The Ontario Accident Benefit Department operates within TD Insurance’s General Insurance business, which is one of Canada’s leading providers of home and auto insurance. This department specializes in managing Accident Benefits claims under Ontario’s Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and delivering fair, timely support to customers impacted by motor vehicle accidents.

Job Description

Our role is to administer and adjudicate Accident Benefits claims for individuals injured in motor vehicle accidents in Ontario, regardless of fault. This includes:

Processing Applications: Handling forms such as the OCF-1 (Application for Accident Benefits) and related documentation to initiate claims.

Determining Coverage & Priority: Applying Ontario law to establish which insurer is responsible for paying benefits, including priority investigations when multiple policies may apply.

Managing Benefits: Overseeing benefits such as income replacement, medical and rehabilitation expenses, caregiver benefits, and other statutory entitlements.

Interacting with Stakeholders: Collaborating with claimants, legal representatives, healthcare providers, and internal teams like Special Investigations, Shared Services, and Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR).

Job Requirements

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Nursing, Rehabilitation Sciences, regulated healthcare practitioner designation (Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Nursing), Business/Commerce or related field
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term

As part of the Accident Benefit Intern role, you will be required to assist the Accident Benefit Advisors with:

Assist with reviewing and organizing accident benefit claims documentation
Support team members with data entry, reporting and file management
Learn Statutory Accident Benefit Schedule and related compliance requirements
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate claim handling
Set up Insurer Examinations on behalf of our Accident Benefit Advisors
Investigate, review and process outstanding vendor invoices
Investigate, review and address stale dated or uncashed cheques
Provide assistance in preparations of our Accident Benefit file copies

This position is a 4-month work term and will commence May 4, 2026 and end of August 21, 2026
