About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Java Developer to join our team on a pivotal public sector project. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, impactful solutions that serve the public interest. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust Java-based applications, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, security, and performance. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including project managers, business analysts, and other developers, to deliver innovative solutions that align with project goals and client expectations.
This position is based in Solihull with a flexible remote working arrangement, requiring two days per week on-site. The initial contract duration is six months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The day rate is negotiable and outside IR35, offering a competitive compensation package for the right candidate. Active SC clearance is mandatory, and NPPV3 clearance is desirable, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved.
As a Lead Java Developer, you will play a crucial role in guiding technical development, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex software solutions. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the success of this important public sector initiative.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Java Developer, with a strong understanding of Java SE and EE technologies.
Demonstrable experience in leading development teams and managing large-scale projects.
Proficiency with modern development tools and frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and Maven.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and cloud-based deployment.
Experience with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Active SC clearance is essential; NPPV3 clearance is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications are advantageous.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications aligned with project requirements.
Lead technical discussions and provide guidance to development team members.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
Implement security measures and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
Mentor junior developers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
Identify and resolve technical issues promptly to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
Contribute to documentation and reporting for project progress and technical specifications.
