Job Summary And Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Data Protection & Risk, the core function of the Data Protection Assistant will be supporting the Head of Data Protection & Risk to achieve compliance with the GDPR and other data protection laws, our own data protection policies, awareness-raising, training, and audits. The Data Protection Assistant will be responsible for the administrative functions that will help to maintain the Data Protection framework. This includes maintaining our data breach register, redacting third party data from subject access requests, complying with unsubscribe requests, answering basic requests and maintaining our data protection processes across LRG to demonstrate corporate compliance. The Data Protection Assistant will also be responsible for assisting the Head of Data Protection & Risk with administrative tasks on Data Protection projects and help to implement best practice. The Data Protection Assistant will monitor the Data Protection email account and escalate Data Protection issues to the Head of Data Protection & Risk.

Key Responsibilities

Managing Relationships

Provide support to the Head of Data Protection & Risk
Primary contact for unsubscribe requests, data subject access requests and Data Protection incidents.

Managing Process and Administration

Manage the reporting registers for:
DSAR
Breach & incident reporting
ICO registrations
Erasure (Right To Be Forgotten) requests and Unsubscribe requests
Managing data subject access requests (DSAR), collating customer data and use of redaction software to redact third party data and apply exemptions in accordance with instructions
Responding to deletion (unsubscribe and right to be forgotten) requests in line with LRG targets and legal timeframes.
Supporting the recording and tracking of data breaches and data incidents.
Assist with basic DPA/GDPR advice on data breaches, data sharing etc.
Respond to customer complaints regarding our compliance with GDPR & DPA etc.
Other relevant administrative tasks commensurate with the post.

What Are We Looking For

Previous experience in Data Protection or information governance/compliance desirable but not essential
Relevant qualification in GDPR or Data Protection desired but not essential
Numeracy, accuracy and well-developed IT skills (Microsoft packages)
Good customer service skills, responding to customer complaints
Previous experience of working within a compliance, risk or legal department would be advantageous
Strong organisational and personal management skills, capable of operating independently with minimal direction in an environment with multiple priorities
Attention to detail and proven track record in working with effective administrative processes
Demonstrated ability to stay calm and work effectively under pressure
