Overview

The Student Intern will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Arrow’s Tangram School, working closely with our experienced team to support children. The intern will assist in supporting the mental health and well-being of those within the select programs. The selected intern will receive mentorship and supervision from experienced professionals. This is an unpaid internship with a specific start and end date.

Responsibilities

Specific program and role outlined below. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Family Centered Treatment:

FCT Practitioner-

Assess FCT interventions and strategies to address family dynamics and promote positive behavioral changes.
Review documentation including FCT fidelity documentation and progress notes, monthly reports and assessments.
Assist in gathering and analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and interventions.
Support case management activities including documentation, progress tracking, and follow-ups with families.
Observe and help facilitate family therapy sessions.
Residential:

Therapist-

Assist in the development of the treatment plan that meets client’s needs and complements services provided by other treatment team members.
Under the supervision of the field instructor, provide clinical services to include but not limited to: individual, group, and family therapy.
Review client files to access service plan implementation, progress towards desired outcomes, and future appropriateness of service plan.
Assist in the development of discharge and aftercare plans.

Case Manager-

Participate in development of assessment, service delivery, discharge, and aftercare planning.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation according to licensing, accreditation, and agency standards.
Participate in case planning conferences, School meetings, court hearings, staffing, etc., as appropriate.
Review client files on a quarterly basis to access service plan implementation, progress towards desired outcomes, and future appropriateness of service plan.

Residential Counselor-

Engage in a trauma informed model of programming to provide physical and emotional safety for residents.
Supervise residents in various activities in order to observe and promote positive social behavior or affect changes in their social behavior.
Model and teach life skills to program residents that will help them develop interpersonal relationships, social skills and how to navigate through their internal and external surroundings.
May complete shift documentation including but not limited to: residential case notes, incident reports, and resident inventory; may also complete documentation requested by clinical or medical staff such as sleep logs and behavior checklists.
Observe methods/techniques of residential staff and participate in treatment of residents in interaction, limit setting, and implementation of treatment plans, also responsible for co- facilitation and involvement in life-skills groups.
Schools:

Therapist-

Assist in the development of the treatment plan that meets client’s needs and complements services provided by other treatment team members.
Under the supervision of the field instructor, provide clinical services to include but not limited to: individual, group, and family therapy.
Participate in the development of all treatment goals, objectives, interventions, approaches, etc., as it relates to the IEP.
Review documentation of ongoing treatment of children and progress through discharge by deadlines set by regulatory agencies, State requirements, or Arrow policy.

Occupational Therapist-

Help oversee individual occupational therapy in the classroom and other school settings.
Oversee sensory integration for students within the school setting.
Function as a treatment team member and attend team conferences and meetings.
Support the classroom team, providing assistance with students during school hours.

Speech and Language Pathologist-

Observe individual and group speech and language therapy in the classroom and other school settings as a member of a collaborative team.
Observe classroom staff in implementing strategies to improve speech and language skills for each student.
Sit in on evaluations of students to determine skill, strengths, and needs in the areas of speech and language.
Participate in students’ behavioral plan along with members of the team.

Student Teacher-

Promote a safe learning environment for students within the scope of administrative policies and procedures.
Assist in the timely completion of all necessary paperwork to accurately record student progress. This is to include: daily attendance records, grades, IEP data logs, portfolios, and behavioral logs.
Assists in the direct group and individual instruction to students.
Maintain proper rules, safety, and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
