Job Description:
Duration: 6 months
Pay: $65-73/hr.
Seeking a Software QA Engineer II to support manual and automated testing initiatives across software and hardware-integrated systems. This role will be a key contributor to quality assurance efforts, partnering closely with Product, Development, DevOps, and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality releases. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on testing experience and thrives in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
All-star candidates will have experience testing both software and hardware devices/instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test scripts across browser, mobile, API, and system-level testing
Perform system integration testing involving both software and hardware to ensure throughput, performance, and consistency
Analyze business and technical requirements to define test strategies, test plans, and requirement traceability
Execute a wide range of testing activities, including Acceptance, Regression, System, Functional, Integration, and limited Performance testing
Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA, and DevOps teams to define QA needs and support implementation and deployment
Create, maintain, and execute overall test plans and test strategies
Identify defects, perform root cause analysis, and document issues clearly within ticketing systems
Identify testing dependencies, risks, and concerns related to release schedules and system readiness
Support end-to-end testing cycles in physical lab environments
Contribute to and support CI/CD pipelines, including automated build, test, and deployment processes
Support trials of new infrastructure designs and services
Lead and manage QA-related tasks while mentoring junior and mid-level QA engineers on best practices and coding standards
Follow established Agile methodologies, QA processes, and best practices to ensure high-quality releases
Establish strong working relationships across teams and support cross-BU collaboration and release planning
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)
5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance - required
Hands-on experience with both manual and automated testing - required
Experience testing both software and hardware systems (device or instrumentation testing experience is highly preferred) - required
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices - required
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills - required
Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively - required
Technical Skills
Strong experience using Java and JUnit for automated testing
Experience with Kafka and MQTT
Experience with Devcontainers, including Docker and Kubernetes
Experience working with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra
Experience working in Windows and Linux environments
Experience testing RESTful APIs using Postman or similar tools
Experience with Continuous Integration (Jenkins) and Continuous Delivery
Experience testing applications deployed on AWS and/or GCP (plus)
