Remote WORKING

Type: Permanent

An organically funded HR technology startup is looking for a JavaScript developer to join its team. The company focuses on pay gap reporting and salary data analysis, with a clear moral purpose centred on equity and fairness. The culture is friendly, honest, and supportive, with an emphasis on sustainable growth and looking after people as they develop.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the two cofounders as the sole engineer and technical lead, with meaningful ownership of the codebase and technical direction. The role includes a mix of smaller feature work and larger projects that allow for deep technical engagement.

The current stack uses Nordcraft (front end) and Xano (back end). Previous experience with these platforms is not required; they are generally quick to learn. A UX designer provides Photoshop designs, allowing the role to focus on development rather than visual design.

Key Responsibilities

Building and scaling features primarily using JavaScript and CSS
Implementing pay gap reporting modules (e.g. ethnicity, disability) across multiple regulatory jurisdictions
Developing APIs to integrate with HR systems (e.g. Workday)
Integrating AI-driven reporting and commentary features (integration rather than model development)
Improving the codebase, including backups, testing, and web security practices

Candidate Profile

Mid-level JavaScript developer with full-stack experience or a strong willingness to learn
Comfortable working across front and back ends, with solid web security fundamentals
Clear communicator who enjoys close collaboration with founders
Reliable and self-directed, with experience working remotely
Able to provide references covering reliability and remote or contract work

What's on Offer

£55,000 full-time equivalent, with openness to reduced hours or project-based delivery
Genuine flexibility around working patterns and location
Inclusive, values-led environment focused on equity; women and candidates from all backgrounds encouraged to apply
Increasing autonomy over time, while remaining closely connected to leadership
Opportunity to deepen full-stack development skills in a meaningful product area
