Position Title: Okta Support Specialist
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – On-site 1–2 times per month)
Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust (Active Public Trust or suitability preferred), U.S. Citizenship required
Position Status: Contract (3–4 months) with potential for conversion
Pay Rate: Competitive (depending on qualification)
Position Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Okta IAM Technical Analyst to support enterprise identity and access management (IAM) operations within a fast-paced cybersecurity environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional with deep Okta expertise who thrives in Tier 2 incident response, system troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will work closely with Service Desk teams, security engineers, and IT stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable user access across cloud and on-prem applications. This position plays a critical role in supporting authentication services, identity lifecycle management, and access governance initiatives for a large federal environment.
What You Will Do:
Provide Tier 2 support for Okta-related issues, including SSO, MFA, access provisioning, and identity lifecycle management
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated IAM incidents and service requests originating from Tier 1 Service Desk teams
Configure and manage Okta tenants, including applications, users, groups, policies, and authentication flows
Support integrations with SaaS and on-premise applications using SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, and OIDC
Analyze system and authentication logs to identify root causes and implement preventive solutions
Partner with cybersecurity, IT operations, and engineering teams to maintain secure access controls
Contribute to IAM documentation, operational procedures, and cybersecurity best practices
Support ICAM initiatives, including identity governance and privileged access management
Required Skills / Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
5+ years of experience engineering, deploying, or supporting enterprise IT systems
Strong hands-on experience with Okta as an enterprise identity provider
Experience configuring authentication policies, application integrations, and lifecycle workflows in Okta
In-depth understanding of MFA technologies, including Okta Verify, FIDO tokens, OTP, and YubiKey
Proven experience troubleshooting Okta authentication and access issues in production environments
Working knowledge of IAM platforms, identity governance, and the full identity lifecycle
Familiarity with ServiceNow in a Service Desk or Incident Response environment
Broad understanding of cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies
Strong communication, documentation, and analytical skills
Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance
Nice to Have:
Okta certifications (Professional, Administrator, Consultant, Developer, or Architect)
Experience with SailPoint IIQ, including Identity Management, Governance, and PAM
Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Okta APIs)
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
Familiarity with DevSecOps tools and SDLC processes
Experience developing or contributing to cybersecurity or IAM policies
Active Secret or higher clearance
Additional Details:
Hybrid role with on-site presence required 1–2 times per month
Target start timeframe: Mid-April, accounting for vetting and clearance processing
This role is a backfill supporting mission-critical operations during a planned leave period
Candidates must be open to potential conversion to full-time if offered
