POSITION OVERVIEW

Brooksource is seeking a Technical Product Owner for our Fortune 100 telecommunications client in Charlotte, NC. As the Technical Product Owner for the Data Activation Team, you will lead an agile team of data engineers and analysts in defining and delivering innovative data integration solutions supporting high-visibility marketing and advertising campaigns.

This role requires a unique blend of product ownership expertise and technical depth. You will work directly with business stakeholders and your development team to define and prioritize features for ad-hoc data delivery needs, new partnership integrations, and unplanned feature requests that cannot wait for quarterly planning cycles. The ideal candidate is proactive, hands-on, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where business priorities shift quickly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Ownership & Strategy:

Lead data activation team focused on ad-hoc data delivery and partnership integrations
Align business priorities with development objectives to ensure efficient feature delivery
Define and communicate the product roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders
Prioritize Product Backlog to maximize ROI and business value
Prepare product backlog for upcoming 2-3 sprints with clear, actionable items
Write detailed User Stories/Use Cases with well-defined acceptance criteria
Manage defect scheduling and prioritization
Enable incremental feature delivery across multiple releases

Technical Execution:

Work with data pipelines (batch and real-time) using Python and SQL in cloud environment
Perform root cause analysis in cloud data warehouse and recommend solutions
Write complex SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data
Collaborate with technical leads to refine backlog and plan sprints
Translate business problems into technical requirements
Ensure delivered solutions are scalable, accurate, and performant

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

Guide development team on priorities and provide productivity oversight
Work with Scrum Master, Lead Architect, Developers, and QA to deliver solutions
Conduct sprint retrospectives and drive continuous improvement
Handle fast-turnaround requests and interruption work
Proactively learn data sets to make informed product decisions
Coordinate with distributed team members to ensure alignment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Product Owner Experience:

5-10 years of Product Owner experience with demonstrated technical depth
Proven track record managing data integration or data platform products
Experience with Agile methodology (SAFe Agile strongly preferred)
Proficiency with agile project management tools (JIRA, Rally, Azure DevOps, etc.)
Strong ability to write well-defined User Stories/Use Cases and acceptance criteria
Experience managing roadblocks and conflicts to drive resolution

Technical Skills:

Strong data architecture knowledge: enterprise data warehousing, SQL development, data integration
Advanced SQL scripting - Expert with Tables, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views, Indexes, UDFs
Hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure experience (1+ years at enterprise scale)
Working knowledge of Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms
Understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and orchestration tools (Airflow a plus)
Python familiarity for data analysis and pipeline development
Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies

STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Media/Advertising industry data and applications
Background in Analytics or Business Intelligence
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM)
Snowflake and SnowSQL experience
Knowledge of semantic modeling and modern data architecture
Experience with partnership integrations or M&A data initiatives
Familiarity with marketing analytics (campaign data, audience measurement, attribution)

Hours: Standard 40-hour work week

Schedule: Hybrid - 4 days onsite / 1 day remote
