Job Title: Senior Oracle GoldenGate DBA
Job Location: New York, NY (hybrid; 3 days onsite, 2 remote)
Job Duration: 12 months+ (contract)
Interview Mode: First round remotely, 2nd round onsite (depending on manager discretion)
Position Overview
Our Fortune 500 client located in New York, NY is seeking a highly skilled Oracle DBA with deep Oracle GoldenGate expertise to support mission-critical enterprise data replication, high-availability operations, and cloud data integration initiatives. This role is heavily focused on GoldenGate engineering, real-time data movement, and supporting production-grade database environments across on-prem and cloud platforms.
The ideal candidate will lead GoldenGate deployment and tuning efforts, design CDC-based replication pipelines, support Zero-Downtime Migration (ZDM) strategies, and ensure reliable data delivery into Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and BigQuery. This role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, performance tuning expertise, and the ability to operate in 24×7 production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle GoldenGate Engineering & Replication
Lead deployment, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of Oracle GoldenGate (19.x/21.x) in large-scale production environments
Configure and support Extract, Pump, and Replicat processes for uni-directional and bi-directional replication
Design and maintain full-load and CDC-based replication pipelines
Support Zero-Downtime Migration (ZDM) and high-availability replication architectures
Cloud Data Integration
Deliver Oracle GoldenGate data into Google Cloud Storage (GCS) and BigQuery
Implement file-based ingestion workflows (Avro, Parquet, JSON)
Support BigQuery MERGE operations and downstream analytics integrations
Oracle Database Administration
Administer Oracle databases (11gR2, 12c, 19c)
Manage Grid Infrastructure, RAC, ASM/ACFS environments
Perform performance tuning and production operations support
Support distributed replication between Oracle and MS SQL Server
Backup, Recovery & High Availability
Work with ZDLRA (Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance)
Manage RMAN backup and recovery operations
Support incremental-forever backup strategies and redo transport
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing across hybrid environments
Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Diagnose performance issues using AWR, ASH, ADDM, trace files, and logs
Perform JVM diagnostics (heap analysis, GC logs, thread dumps as needed)
Create operational dashboards, metrics reporting, and trend analysis for capacity planning
Cross-Team Collaboration & Support
Partner with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and application development teams
Contribute to architectural improvements and continuous optimization efforts
Participate in scheduled on-call rotation for 24×7 production support
Required Qualifications
5+ years of Oracle DBA experience supporting enterprise production environments
3+ years of hands-on Oracle GoldenGate experience (19.x or 21.x preferred)
Strong expertise in CDC-based replication and high-availability architectures
Experience delivering GoldenGate replication to GCS and BigQuery
Hands-on experience with ZDLRA, RMAN, and enterprise recovery strategies
Strong SQL/PLSQL skills
Strong Linux/UNIX administration skills
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting distributed data replication environments
Excellent communication, documentation, and incident response skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OCI GoldenGate or managed cloud replication services
Familiarity with hybrid architectures across On-Prem, OCI, and GCP
Experience contributing to database and replication architecture design discussions
Experience driving performance optimization and reliability improvements
