Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator IV) to support the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA) at Fort Belvoir, VA. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure including Windows Server, Linux systems, Active Directory services, and virtualized environments.
This role requires strong hands-on experience in VMware administration, including planning and executing migration from VMware vSphere 7 to VMware vSphere 8.
Key Responsibilities
Build, administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments across enterprise systems.
Manage and maintain Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and domain services.
Configure and maintain DNS, DHCP, and related network services.
Support and administer VMware vSphere environments, including virtual machines, ESXi hosts, and vCenter.
Plan and execute migration from VMware vSphere 7 to VMware vSphere 8, ensuring minimal downtime and system integrity.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of IT infrastructure.
Implement system updates, patches, and security configurations in accordance with DoD policies.
Perform system backups, disaster recovery planning, and restoration procedures.
Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Provide Tier III support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
Collaborate with network engineers, cybersecurity teams, and other IT staff to maintain secure and reliable systems.
Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and security clearance requirements.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret Clearance or higher (required).
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure support.
Strong experience with Windows Server administration.
Experience administering Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, or similar).
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Experience managing VMware vSphere environments, including VMware 7.
Experience with VMware migration/upgrade projects, preferably vSphere 7 to vSphere 8.
