Job Description
**Job Title** Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial) **Role Summary** Provide high‑level legal expertise to an in‑house counsel team, lead and oversee complex commercial agreements, advise on technology and data protection, identify legal risks, and mentor junior staff within a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. **Expectations** - Deliver strategic legal advice aligned with business objectives. - Work autonomously while maintaining clear communication of complex legal matters. - Contribute to governance, compliance, and continuous process improvement. **Key Responsibilities** - Lead, draft, negotiate, and monitor complex commercial agreements and workstreams. - Advise on contracts, technology, data protection and privacy matters. - Identify legal risks and propose pragmatic, business‑oriented solutions. - Supervise, mentor, and develop junior lawyers, paralegals, and trainees. - Support governance, compliance frameworks and drive continuous improvement initiatives. **Required Skills** - Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years post‑qualification experience. - Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills. - Solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to translate legal issues into clear, actionable advice. - Experience in commercial contracts, technology law, and regulatory compliance. - Excellent written and oral communication. - Detail‑oriented, autonomous and proactive. **Required Education & Certifications** - Qualified solicitor or barrister (UK). - Relevant professional qualifications in contract law, technology law or data protection preferred.
