**Job Title:** Data Centre Administrator – VDI & Cloud Desktop
**Role Summary:**
Administers and supports on‑premises and cloud‑based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability for enterprise users. Leads design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VMware Horizon, Windows 365, and related Windows Server infrastructure.
**Expectations:**
- 8‑10 years of hands‑on experience in data‑center, VDI, and infrastructure administration.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex VDI solutions.
- Strong collaboration with network, security, and cloud teams to maintain compliant environments.
- Capability to mentor junior staff and produce clear technical documentation.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Administer and support Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon, Windows 365, and on‑prem VDI platforms.
- Design, deploy, and optimize VDI infrastructure for enterprise workloads.
- Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and storage resources.
- Monitor performance, capacity, and availability; proactively resolve incidents.
- Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of VDI components and Windows servers.
- Troubleshoot user access, profile, connectivity, and performance issues.
- Coordinate backup, disaster‑recovery, and high‑availability strategies.
- Maintain Windows 10/11 and Windows Server administration, including Group Policy and AD.
- Create and update SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior administrators.
**Required Skills:**
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) – deployment and management
- VMware Horizon and VMware vSphere/ESXi administration
- On‑prem VDI platforms and Windows 365 (Cloud PC)
- Windows Server, Windows 10/11 OS, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
- Storage, networking, and security fundamentals for data‑center environments
- Performance monitoring and troubleshooting of VDI solutions
- Familiarity with ITSM tools and monitoring platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication; documentation proficiency
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server.
- Additional certifications (e.g., ITIL, PowerShell scripting) considered a plus.
