**Job Title**
Principal Associate – Enterprise Architecture
**Role Summary**
Provide enterprise‑level architecture leadership and advisory services for transformation programmes across the Benelux, translating business strategy into executable target architectures, establishing lightweight governance, and enabling delivery teams to manage change with minimal ambiguity. Work as an independent contractor, delivering architecture artefacts and decision support to cross‑functional stakeholders.
**Expectations**
- 10+ years in IT architecture roles (Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, or equivalent).
- Ability to operate under real constraints: budget, timeline, and resource limits.
- High‑level communication with executives and technical teams.
- Demonstrated track record delivering architecture in regulated or high‑complexity sectors.
- Contract‑based, hybrid availability from Brussels, extendable to wider Benelux.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Translate business objectives into target architecture, transition states, and a deployable roadmap.
- Lead or support enterprise and solution architecture across applications, integration, data, and infrastructure domains.
- Define and enforce practical architecture principles, standards, and reference models.
- Design and run lightweight governance cycles (architecture reviews, decision logs, exception handling).
- Articulate trade‑offs among risk, cost, resilience, and time‑to‑value.
- Align stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and Operations.
- Produce concise artefacts: capability maps, current / target state assessments, migration plans, dependency maps.
- Assist delivery teams in reducing ambiguity, managing dependencies, and avoiding costly rework.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in integration patterns, API design, modern application platforms, and enterprise connectivity.
- Understanding of security‑by‑design and data protection compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication with executives and engineers.
- Delivery credibility – experience delivering within real constraints, not just theoretical designs.
- Experience in regulated or complex environments (public sector, utilities, life sciences, transport, etc.).
- Exposure to cloud transformation, ERP/core platform modernization, and large integration landscapes.
- Familiarity with programme leadership, PMO, and transformation governance.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications valued (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, etc.), though practical experience is paramount.
