Job Description
**Job Title:** Junior Research Scientist – AI Safety & Security **Role Summary:** Develop and evaluate AI testing and monitoring solutions for a platform serving diverse AI domains (LLMs, computer vision, agentic systems). Collaborate with customers to define testing requirements, design rigorous evaluations, and contribute to automated tooling. Provide scientific expertise for consulting engagements and produce clear technical reports and presentations. **Expectations:** - Obtain UK Security Clearance. - Work within Agile, hybrid teams (minimum 2 days on‑site). - Translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders. - Stay current with AI safety research and emerging evaluation frameworks. **Key Responsibilities:** - Onboard customer AI use cases and define testing strategies. - Design, build, and execute rigorous evaluation pipelines. - Conduct research on AI testing methodologies to enhance platform science. - Develop and assess tooling for automated testing and monitoring. - Deliver scientific consulting support and create high‑quality written reports/presentations. - Implement robust APIs, containerisation, data pipelines, and database solutions as needed. - Apply statistical and scientific methods to ensure evidence‑based testing. - Document processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in Python for data science and machine learning. - Strong foundation in machine learning (incl. reinforcement learning) and AI concepts. - Solid grounding in statistical and scientific methodology. - Analytical problem‑solving with proactive, innovative mindset. - Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey technical ideas to diverse audiences. - Experience with software engineering practices (API development, containerisation, databases, data pipelines). - Ability to work collaboratively in hybrid, Agile environments. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. - Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (National Security Vetting).
