Salary: £45,000 per annum

Location: London, UK

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 2 days a week in the office)

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Research Scientist to help design, build and evaluate AI testing and monitoring solutions across our platform. You will work directly with customers to understand their AI use cases, establish what needs to be tested and how, and design evaluations that offer real value. You will also contribute to building and evaluating tooling for our automated testing and monitoring platform and provide scientific expertise for our consulting work.

The ideal candidate combines strong scientific and problem-solving skills with solid Python proficiency and a collaborative, proactive mindset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Onboard customer AI use cases onto our platform, working collaboratively to establish testing requirements and evaluation strategies

- Design and build rigorous evaluations that offer real value to our customers across diverse AI domains

- Conduct research into AI testing methodologies, contributing to the scientific foundations of our platform

- Build and evaluate tooling for our automated testing and monitoring platform

- Provide scientific expertise for consulting engagements, communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

- Produce high-quality written reports and presentations to support client work

- Apply your statistical and scientific expertise to design rigorous, evidence-based testing approaches

- Develop and document robust APIs for serving and integrating ML models

- Apply software engineering practices as needed (e.g., containerisation, databases, data pipelines) to support scalable delivery

- Work effectively within Agile teams alongside scientists, engineers, and non-technical colleagues

- Stay up to date with emerging research, frameworks, and tools across AI safety and evaluation

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline

- Strong understanding of machine learning, reinforcement learning, or AI more broadly

- Strong grounding in scientific and statistical methodology

- Strong proficiency in Python for data science and machine learning applications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative approach

- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences

- Effective communicator who thrives in a collaborative, hybrid team environment
