Job Description
Job title: System Engineer – HRIS (Workday) Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain scalable Workday solutions for HRIS operations. Own complex configurations, integrations, and Tier‑3 support to ensure reliable delivery of HR, recruiting, payroll, and reporting functions. Lead end‑to‑end implementations, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders on process optimization. Expectations: Deliver high‑quality Workday configurations, integrations, and support within agreed timelines. Act as Tier‑3 escalation point, maintain system performance, and ensure data integrity and security compliance. Provide clear documentation, training, and proactive monitoring. Mentor junior engineers and adopt best practices in SDLC and change management. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build Workday solutions based on documented business requirements. - Configure business processes, condition rules, calculated fields, notifications, and security roles/domains. - Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics for stakeholders. - Manage releases, deployments, tenant refreshes, and change management; adhere to SDLC. - Integrate Workday with Salesforce, IdPs, benefits, payroll, finance systems, data/ETL platforms and other third‑party systems using Workday REST/SOAP, EIB, Workday Studio, and middleware (Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, Zapier). - Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues; ensure data consistency and reconciliation. - Act as Tier‑3 support for business process failures, automation defects, security issues, and performance regressions. - Perform proactive platform performance monitoring and risk mitigation (integration failures, job bottlenecks, reporting inefficiencies, security misconfigurations). - Implement data quality, compliance controls, and audit reporting. - Mentor and guide Tier‑1/2 engineers. - Translate business goals into technical designs with documentation of tradeoffs. - Communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. - Maintain concise documentation of configurations, processes, security setups, data mappings, and integrations. - Conduct training sessions for new modules and process changes; update runbooks and training materials. Required Skills: - 3+ years admin, configuration, and support experience in Workday. - Proficient with Workday business processes, reporting, and security. - Strong understanding of HCM foundations, recruiting, time tracking, payroll (where applicable), and reporting. - Experience with Workday integrations and APIs (REST/SOAP), EIB, and middleware; Studio experience a plus. - Familiarity with CRM, IdP/SSO, benefits, payroll vendors, and data/ETL tools integration patterns. - Ability to design scalable solutions and optimize workflows in regulated environments. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. - Comfortable following SDLC, change management, and documentation standards. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, HRIS, or equivalent professional experience. - Workday certifications (e.g., Workday Integration Services, Workday HCM) preferred but not mandatory.
