Summary:

Our client offers AI-powered tools, content, and resources to amplify customer impact and a leading technology platform serving the faith & flourishing ecosystem, where faith meets technology.

Hiring a Workday Systems Engineer to design, build, and support scalable solutions on Workday for customers. This role owns complex HRIS configurations, integrations, and Tier-2/Tier-3 escalations, ensuring clients’ HR and people operations run reliably and efficiently. You will lead end-to-end Workday implementations and optimization efforts, mentor junior engineers, and deliver high-impact HRIS enhancements across HCM, recruiting, payroll (where applicable), time tracking (where applicable), security, and reporting domains.

Responsibilities:

Technical Development

Design and build scalable Workday solutions based on documented business requirements.
Develop and maintain configurations including business processes (BPs), condition rules, calculated fields, notifications, and security role/domain configurations.
Build and maintain role-based dashboards, reports, and analytics for business stakeholders.
Manage releases and deployments (tenant refreshes as applicable, change management, SDLC adherence) in collaboration with Systems Managers.

Integration Management

Ensure seamless integration between Workday and connected platforms such as Salesforce, identity providers (SSO), benefits providers, payroll vendors, finance systems, data/ETL platforms, and other third-party systems.
Leverage Workday REST/SOAP APIs, EIB, Workday Studio and/or middleware (e.g., Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, Zapier) and custom connectors to maintain robust data flow.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues to ensure data consistency, reconciliation accuracy, and system reliability.

Technical Administration & Support

Act as the Tier-3 escalation point for Workday support issues, including business process failures, automation defects, security/permissions problems, and performance regressions.
Monitor platform performance, proactively identifying and resolving risks (integration failures, scheduled job bottlenecks, reporting inefficiencies, security misconfiguration).
Implement data quality standards, compliance controls, and audit reporting where applicable.
Guide and mentor Tier 1-2 engineers on complex Workday administration and troubleshooting.
Ensure compliance with data governance, security standards, and controls-driven requirements where applicable.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Partner with internal teams and client stakeholders (HR, Finance, Operations, IT) to understand process bottlenecks and deliver effective HRIS solutions.
Translate business objectives into technical designs, documenting tradeoffs and impacts across business processes, security roles/domains, data structures, and reporting outputs.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment.

Documentation & Training

Develop and maintain concise documentation of Workday configurations, business processes, security setup, data mappings, and integrations.
Conduct training sessions as needed to support adoption of new modules and process changes.
Regularly review and update training and runbook materials in alignment with system enhancements and Workday releases.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, HRIS, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
3+ years of Workday administration, configuration, and support experience.
Experience configuring and supporting Workday business processes, reporting, and security.
Strong understanding of HRIS concepts: HCM foundations, recruiting, time tracking and payroll concepts (where applicable), security, and reporting.
Experience with Workday integrations and APIs (REST/SOAP), EIB, middleware platforms, and data sync troubleshooting; Studio experience a plus.
Familiarity with adjacent systems (CRM, identity/SSO, benefits providers, payroll vendors, data/ETL tools) and their integration patterns into HRIS.
Demonstrated ability to design scalable solutions and drive workflow optimization in regulated/controls-driven environments.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work across diverse technical and business teams.
