Job Description
Job title: Public Affairs Intern Role Summary: Support the EU Public Affairs (PAC) team of the TIC Council with research, policy monitoring, and advocacy strategy development on European and global sustainability and digitalisation issues. Coordinate committee activities, event logistics, and stakeholder engagement to advance the association’s influence in EU industrial policy and global trade regulation. Expactations: - Complete a 6‑month professional immersion agreement under Belgian regulations. - Receive direct mentorship and shadow daily operations of a dynamic EU‑based public affairs team. - Demonstrate commitment to learning and adapt quickly to a fast‑paced environment. - Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the association’s professional standards. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct independent research on EU legislative developments related to sustainability, digitalisation, and trade. - Monitor policy, draft public event summaries, and compile Parliamentary hearing briefings. - Assist in developing advocacy strategies and preparing internal/external meeting materials. - Organize committee meetings: schedule, draft minutes, action plans, and follow‑up stakeholder coordination. - Manage event logistics: promotion, registration tracking, venue coordination, and post‑event follow‑up. - Support global outreach for portions of tasks, coordinating with international partners as needed. Required Skills: - Proficient in English; knowledge of an additional EU language is an asset. - Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex policy information. - Excellent written communication and drafting abilities. - Proactive, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated with problem‑solving aptitude. - Ability to work independently and collaborate within cross‑functional teams. Required Education & Certifications: - Current student or recent graduate in International Relations, EU Law, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, or related discipline. - No prior professional experience required; internship or academic projects demonstrating research, writing, or public affairs experience are desirable.
