Job Description
**Job Title** Assistant File Handler – Fraud EL/PL **Role Summary** Assist senior File Handlers in managing a caseload of Employment‑Related Liability (EL) and Personal Injury (PL) fixed‑fee claims. Provide a forensic, analytical approach to evidence handling, disclosure, and case preparation, progressing to independent case management on a non‑delegated authority basis. **Expectations** - Develop skills to manage EL/PL cases independently within a fixed‑fee framework. - Handle cases involving Pre‑action Disclosure, Infant Approval Hearings and MOJ Stage 3 filings. - Demonstrate adaptability and a commitment to delivering high‑standard client service. **Key Responsibilities** - Manage and process disclosure requests, reviewing medical and personnel records. - Conduct investigations, obtain witness statements, and liaise with insured parties, claimant solicitors, and witnesses. - Coordinate counsel and expert instruction, attend conferences and trials, and produce accurate notes. - Draft Tomlin Orders, Consent Orders, and Cost Schedules; review quantum. - Handle routine correspondence, telephone chasing, and filing of Allocation Questionnaires and witness summons. - Perform general queries and routine tasks in line with team workload priorities. **Required Skills** - Proven experience handling litigated EL/PL cases up to £25 000. - Strong communication and teamwork abilities. - Proficient IT skills and familiarity with case‑management systems. - Excellent prioritisation, attention to detail, and organisational skills. - Flexibility to adapt processes to meet client and organisational objectives. **Required Education & Certifications** - Relevant tertiary education (e.g., law, paralegal studies) or equivalent professional experience. - No specific certifications required; a solid understanding of legal evidence and procedural requirements is essential.
