Lead / Principal Telecoms Engineer - Oil & Gas / Engineering - Surrey
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Lead / Principal Telecom Engineer to join their team in Surrey. As a Lead / Principal Telecoms Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
Provide technical leadership and guidance across all telecom engineering deliverables including design basis, specifications, datasheets, BOMs, equipment layouts, cable schedules, and schematics.
Lead or review calculations and designs for CCTV, PAGA, radio, and telephone systems.
Guide the engineering of field equipment such as cameras, speakers, call stations, turnstiles, road barriers, hotlines, and analogue telephones.
Oversee the design and implementation of Telecom Network Architecture and interface layouts.
Review vendor documentation, quotations, and installation designs for compliance and quality.
Support procurement, cost estimation, bid evaluations, and project proposals.
Conduct inter-discipline checks, shop inspections, FAT/SAT, site surveys, and pre-commissioning activities.
Perform technical audits and quality reviews, ensuring adherence to HSE norms and project risk assessments.
Mentor junior engineers and lead technical training sessions.
What you'll need to bring:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).
Extensive experience in basic and detailed engineering within Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Petrochemical industries.
Strong knowledge of international telecom standards, codes, and best practices.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and vendor-specific tools (e.g., CCTV, PAGA coverage, RF tools).
Deep understanding of telecom workflows, network architecture, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to identify and resolve technical issues clearly and effectively.
A proactive, adaptable, and client-focused approach to project delivery.
