New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking an experienced Solution Architect for a project-based contract (6-8 months). The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing and documenting a complex IT application and infrastructure environment, identifying gaps, and developing recommendations to improve scalability, supportability, and readiness for cloud adoption.
This position requires onsite presence in North Vancouver, BC.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate workshops with IT and business stakeholders to capture and validate the current state of applications, integrations, and infrastructure.
Consolidate and validate existing application and infrastructure inventories (Excel/Visio) and update application landscape documentation.
Perform discovery, assessment, and gap analysis across applications, integrations, and infrastructure domains.
Provide recommendations to improve management, scalability, and supportability of IT systems, including readiness for cloud adoption.
Develop high-level reference architecture aligned with industry best practices (e.g., TOGAF) to guide future initiatives.
Define environments and policies for development, test, and production.
Conduct knowledge transfer and alignment sessions with IT leadership to ensure clarity and buy-in on recommendations.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or related IT leadership roles.
Strong experience with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Microsoft-based applications, Active Directory, SQL Server).
Familiarity with major enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, OpenText, and financial/revenue systems.
Demonstrated experience performing IT environment assessments, gap analysis, and recommendations.
Proven ability to design scalable reference architectures and apply frameworks such as TOGAF or similar.
Knowledge of infrastructure operations, application integration approaches, and environment management.
Strong communication, facilitation, and documentation skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
Experience supporting or planning for cloud migration initiatives is an asset.
Public-sector or government IT experience is considered an advantage.

The hourly rate range for this position is $80 - $100, with the final rate based on consultant experience and fit for the role.
