LeverageTek is actively seeking a Senior Developer / Architect (Machine Learning and AI) for a 12-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.
Work Location
The successful candidate will be required to work 2x/week on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa, ON.
Key Tasks
Architecture & Strategy
Define and own the end-to-end solution architecture for ML and AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance and compliance requirements.
Establish best practices for integrating LLMs and ML solutions into business processes and enterprise data platforms.
Partner with business stakeholders, data engineers, and enterprise architects to design secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
Hands-on Development
Build, train, and deploy Machine Learning models, including LLM-based solutions (e.g., fine-tuning, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation).
Develop and optimize data pipelines for ML workloads using Azure Synapse and other Azure services.
Implement governance workflows and metadata management leveraging Microsoft Purview.
Data Governance & Compliance
Ensure strong data quality, lineage, and compliance through robust data governance practices.
Drive adoption of Purview for cataloging, classification, and policy enforcement.
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to design responsible AI frameworks and data governance policies.
Thought Leadership
Act as a subject matter expert on ML/AI and governance practices, mentoring team members and influencing stakeholders.
Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI/ML, LLMs, and cloud-based data governance to bring innovative solutions to the enterprise.
Key Qualifications
10+ years of experience in software development with a foundational knowledge and understanding in solution/ data / enterprise architecture.
Proven expertise in Machine Learning model development and deployment with tools such as Python-based frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
Strong experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) - fine-tuning, prompt design, and enterprise-scale application development.
Qualifications
Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks, with hands-on experience using Microsoft Purview for data cataloging, classification, and compliance.
Strong technical expertise with Azure Synapse (data integration, analytics, and pipelines).
Proficiency in cloud-native architecture, ideally with Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Azure Machine Learning, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, etc.).
Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical topics to both technical and business audiences.
Assets
Experience in MLOps practices, including CI/CD for ML pipelines.
Knowledge of responsible AI frameworks and ethical AI practices.
Background in enterprise-scale data architecture (data lakes, warehouses, and real-time streaming).
