Your Mission

This internship aims to develop a custom simulator for weapon interfaces. The system should be able integrate various interfaces and make them accessible to the upper software layer.

Define the needs

You will start by understanding how our systems work and especially the different hardware interfaces used and will define the requirements for the development.

Conceptual design

You will do some research on different hardware buses used in the industry.

You will design the architecture (mechanical, hardware, and software) of the simulator.

Create the prototype hardware and software

You will design a board which exposes the different interfaces of the systems used in John Cockerill Defense.

You will design a software which interfaces the different hardware interfaces. The software should be designed to easily add features such as display control and random error generation. The software should be configurable.

You will design a prototype of a mechanical box to easily interfacing the simulator with the John Cockerill system.

Subject Discussed

RS485/422, RS232, CAN and ethernet
PCB design using Altium, layout best practices, IPC-2222
C embedded
Mechanical design, eventual 3D drawing/printing prototype enclosure.
Military environmental specifications: EMC, shock, vibrations, Connector...
