LeverageTek is actively seeking a BI Architect for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Key Tasks
BI Architecture and Strategy (40%)
Lead the definition and development of a Business Intelligence strategy aligned to the organization’s strategic goals.
Lead the architecture and design of BI solutions and related assets with a focus on client digestible outputs.
Assess the BI capabilities of existing data assets and recommend ways to augment / tailor those data assets for better reporting in the future.
Define standards, frameworks, and best practices for reporting development and governance.
Work closely with key Business stakeholders to design BI solutions that support their needs and appeal to the clientele and partners.
Recommended adoption of additional BI tools and technologies for the environment based on best practices in the market.
Solution Development and Delivery (30%)
Optimize existing reporting solutions for usability, relevance, performance, and scalability.
Guide development of new interactive dashboards and advanced analytics reports.
Create documentation to act as reference materials for internal knowledge repository.
Collaborate with technical and business teams to gather reporting requirements, integrate new data sources, and expand reporting capabilities.
Help integrate BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
Work with internal development teams to modify any databases and/or data warehouses to enhance interoperability with BI solutions.
Work with system administrators to determine dashboard access/permissions and ensure data security is maintained
Mentorship and Collaboration (20%)
Provide coaching and day-to-day technical leadership to the junior BI & Reporting Analyst.
Foster knowledge transfer, including training on BI tools, design methodologies, and best practices.
Provide internal BI leadership to business leaders and subject matter experts.
Governance and Continuous Improvement (10%)
Establish data visualization standards and design principles and document as a reference guide.
Contribute to the Data Governance Framework, ensuring reporting aligns with enterprise data strategy.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and adoption of BI toolsets.
Key Qualifications
8–10 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, reporting, and analytics, including at least 3 years in an architect capacity.
Proven expertise with the Microsoft Business Intelligence platform (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric) and the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
Strong knowledge of data governance and data-sharing frameworks, with the ability to design and implement secure, compliant, and efficient data architectures that support decision-making and cross-jurisdictional data exchange.
Qualifications
Microsoft Certified Analyzing Data with Microsoft Power BI or similar certification
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Advanced knowledge of BI visualization and reporting design, emphasizing usability and adoption.
Knowledge of best practices leveraging AI tools to augment and enhance data analytics for structured and unstructured data
Experience with SQL, Excel, Python or similar technical skills useful to support Data Analytics.
Proven track record leading BI solution design and implementation.
Experience mentoring junior BI professionals.
Experience designing enterprise reporting environments, including data modeling for analytics.
Proficiency in managing BI solutions in Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
