Lead AWS DevOps Engineer (Commodities Trading)
Cititec is partnered with a global trading firm that’s heavily investing in its engineering function, building the foundations that its trading and data platforms run on.
They’re hiring a Lead DevOps Engineer to take ownership of scaling and optimising their AWS environment, hands-on, but with the remit to shape how DevOps is delivered across global teams. This sits close to trading and quant engineering, not as a support layer but as a core part of how the business operates.
Over the past few years, they’ve built a modern, cloud-native data layer in AWS, re-architecting legacy systems and shifting towards a genuinely data-driven trading environment. It’s a chance to be part of a small, engineering-first team where ideas move fast, and what you build genuinely impacts the business.
Responsibilities
Oversee a small DevOps team, coordinate and prioritise team tasks to ensure efficient progress on project goals, addressing any bottlenecks or challenges team members encounter.
Contribute to and review the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS for commodities trading applications.
Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS for commodities trading applications.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and deployment in a regulated environment.
Collaborate with trading teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of trading applications.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal DevOps standards and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional certification.
Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud-based infrastructure solutions on AWS, preferably in the financial or commodities trading industry.
Strong proficiency in Python programming.
Experience with configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
Understanding of networking, security, and compliance best practices in the financial services industry.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a team lead.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with serverless computing platforms like AWS Lambda.
Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, or New Relic.
Familiarity with commodities trading systems and data feeds.
