Title: Principal Cloud Architect (SaaS)

Location: [Hybrid in Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver] • Process: 3 rounds, final onsite

About the role: Join our Global Architecture client to shape the technical vision of cloud-hosted products and next-gen SaaS platforms. This role is software/cloud architecture (patterns, APIs, scalability), not infra/ops.

What you’ll do

Set cloud architecture patterns and best practices across products
Review service and API designs; drive alignment and improvements
Evaluate tech options for scale, performance, and availability
Partner with global architects for strategy and convergence
Communicate architecture to technical & business audiences
Guide product teams on cloud-first design; write ADRs and docs
Engage customers/partners on platform integrations
Build PoCs/demos to de-risk approaches

What you bring

15+ years engineering with strong coding background
5+ years SaaS/cloud architecture at scale (Senior/Principal level)
Track record defining & evangelizing architecture for global SaaS
Hyperscaler experience; GCP preferred plus AWS/Azure exposure
Credibility from hands-on PoCs; excellent stakeholder communication
Proven impact on scalability, performance, and availability

Nice to have

Multi-tenant SaaS, service mesh, event-driven & streaming, API gateways
SLOs/error budgets, cost/perf trade-offs, DDD, ADRs
Security-by-design, data privacy, regionalization
