Could you be the full-time Software Development Engineer – Remote Train Operation Solution in Villeurbanne (69 - France) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your software development expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside an innovative, collaborative, and experienced team.

You'll play a key role in developing a pioneering remote train operation solution, directly contributing to the future of autonomous mobility. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with experts in user experience (UX) and embedded systems, develop key subsystems (such as remote driving consoles, onboard systems for drone trains, telecommunications, etc.), and enhance user experience by proposing innovative solutions to improve system ergonomics and performance through impactful deliverables and demonstrations.

You’ll specifically take care of designing and developing remote operation interfaces and addressing telecommunications challenges, but also implementing DevOps practices to ensure scalable and modular software architecture.

We’ll look to you for:

Implementing the most appropriate technological strategies to address remote train operation challenges
Designing and developing UX interfaces for remote train supervision and operation, ensuring ergonomics, responsiveness, and safety
Managing network and telecommunication challenges, including data flow optimization and reliable, low-latency communication protocols
Applying DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline management and API integration for third-party components
Collaborating with robotics experts on inter-system communication and software component integration
Participating in laboratory and on-site testing to validate algorithms
Ensuring adherence to best practices in testing, quality assurance, and cybersecurity
Promoting Alstom’s Code of Ethics and upholding high standards of ethical conduct

All About You

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

Degree in engineering or a Master’s with significant experience in software development
Experience in designing and developing solutions related to robotics or perception systems (e.g., computer vision) for embedded or non-embedded applications
Proficiency in C++ and Python programming languages
Familiarity with DevOps tools (GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Experience in developing user interfaces (e.g., Qt, React, web interfaces)
Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MQTT, etc.)
Experience in robotics or autonomous systems (a plus)
Ability to thrive in a dynamic and uncertain environment within an international context
Strong team player with a customer satisfaction focus
Fluent in French and English

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
Work with engineering, software, and mobility experts in an exciting international context
Collaborate with transverse teams and skilled colleagues
Contribute to innovative and impactful projects shaping the future of autonomous trains
Utilise our agile and collaborative working environment
Steer your career in whatever direction you choose
Progress towards leadership or technical expertise roles
Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
