Finance Business Partner

Location: Lincolnshire Police HQ, Nettleham, Lincoln (Hybrid available after induction)
Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week (12 month contract)
Pay Rate: £23.72 PAYE per hour
Start Date: ASAP (subject to police vetting)

About the Role:

Lincolnshire Police is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Finance Business Partner to provide strategic financial support across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enabling effective decision-making, supporting senior leaders, and shaping the future of policing services across the county.

You’ll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking Finance team dedicated to delivering high professional standards in line with the policing Code of Ethics.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a trusted financial adviser to Senior Leadership Teams across the Force.

Prepare monthly management reports and work with budget holders to deliver accurate forecast outturns.

Identify and support corrective actions for budget pressures and overspends.

Lead financial reviews of revenue and capital budgets, ensuring robust monitoring and challenge.

Support annual budget development and proactively identify efficiency and cashable savings.

Deliver training on Finance, Procurement and Contract Regulations to enhance financial competence across departments.

Provide detailed financial evaluations for new service developments, including affordability, value for money, and DCF techniques.

Advise on commercial and taxation considerations, particularly VAT and capital projects.

Ensure month-end activities are completed accurately and on time.

Contribute to statutory financial statements, including notes to the accounts and outturn analyses.

Work closely with auditors and internal committees to support transparency and compliance.

Essential skills and experience:

Confidence working with non-financial managers and presenting complex information clearly.

Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.

Excellent Excel skills and experience using financial systems.

A collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Commitment to continuous professional development and upholding the values of the organisation.

Full AAT or part-qualified CCAB (ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA) or CIMA

Fully qualified CCAB/CIMA accountant with completed practical experience 

Public sector finance experience (local authority, NHS, policing).

Experience as a Finance Business Partner or Management Accountant.

Knowledge of IFRS, DCF evaluation techniques, and public sector VAT.
