Role Summary
FeX Energy is scaling a breakthrough long-duration energy storage technology that can transform how the world stabilizes and decarbonizes power grids. As a fast-moving climate-tech venture, FeX requires a Chief of Staff who can act as the CEO’s strategic thought partner, operational amplifier, and organizational integrator.
This role exists to multiply the CEO’s capacity, drive clarity and alignment across the company, and ensure the most critical priorities move from concept → decision → execution with discipline and speed. You will sit at the center of FeX’s technical, commercial, and strategic activities—helping the CEO and leadership team make better decisions, move faster, and stay focused on what matters most.
Core Responsibilities
1. Executive Partnership & Strategic Advisory
Serve as a CEO thought partner, providing analysis, recommendations, and structured decision support on strategic, commercial, technical, and organizational priorities.
Anticipate risks, bottlenecks, and emerging issues before they reach the CEO; propose solutions and drive follow-through.
Prepare the CEO for key external meetings (investors, customers, partners), ensuring clear objectives, tight materials, and strong narratives.
2. Operational Excellence & Company Rhythm
Own FeX’s operating cadence: weekly leadership meetings, sprint planning, Demo Days, quarterly OKRs, and board meeting preparation.
Drive operational clarity by ensuring decisions, actions, and dependencies are documented, communicated, and completed.
Improve and scale internal processes as the team grows—balancing structure with startup pragmatism.
3. Strategic Initiative Management
Lead or oversee high-priority cross-functional initiatives (e.g., pilot deployments, partner engagements, techno-economic analysis projects, preparation for grant applications, due diligence support).
Ensure initiatives have clear owners, timelines, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
Connect technical progress to commercial and strategic implications; help ensure the company is advancing in alignment with its long-term model.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as a connective layer between technical, commercial, product, operations, and external collaborators.
Facilitate information flow and support team cohesion as FeX moves through critical technology development milestones.
Identify misalignments, escalate early, and enable teams to make faster, better-integrated decisions.
5. Board, Investor & Stakeholder Engagement
Support the CEO in preparing investor updates, fundraising materials, board pre-reads, and strategic narrative documents.
Maintain a structured record of commitments, deliverables, and communications with investors and advisors.
Ensure FeX presents a unified, credible story across all external touchpoints.
6. Communications & Knowledge Management
Draft or refine communications on behalf of the CEO and leadership team (internal updates, external messaging, strategic briefs).
Create and maintain knowledge-management systems (decision logs, project trackers, risk registers) that help FeX scale.
Translate technical information into executive-ready insights where needed.
Qualifications & Experience
At FeX, we hire first for purpose and mindset, then for skills and experience. You are motivated by the chance to empower industry decarbonization with iron energy, and you align strongly with our culture of impact, care, and trust. You thrive in collaborative, purpose-driven environments, where respect, learning, and customer and planetary impact come first.
Required
5-7+ years in strategy, operations, product, consulting, engineering, or a hybrid role in climate, deep tech, energy, or advanced manufacturing.
Proven ability to operate across both technical and commercial domains.
Demonstrated excellence in project management, prioritization, and operational executio
