Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist – ServiceNow SAM Pro
6 month contract with CDW
CDW is seeking an experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist and ServiceNow SAM Pro Practitioner to own and optimize the full lifecycle of software assets across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring all software entitlements are properly captured, maintained, reconciled, and governed within ServiceNow SAM Pro—supporting compliance, cost control, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with software license management, deep knowledge of entitlement models, and the ability to implement best practices for reclamation, optimization, and lifecycle management within ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end software asset lifecycle—procurement, entitlement ingestion, deployment, monitoring, optimization, and retirement
Act as the ServiceNow SAM Pro Practitioner, ensuring the SAM module is configured, maintained, and used effectively
Import, validate, and maintain all software entitlements, ensuring they are flowing correctly through the system
Implement and execute software reclamation processes to recover unused licenses and optimize spend
Perform ongoing reconciliation of entitlements vs. discovered installations to ensure compliance and accuracy
Identify compliance gaps, over-licensing, under-licensing, and opportunities for cost savings
Collaborate with procurement, vendor management, finance, and IT teams to support renewals and strategic planning
Maintain SAM-related data accuracy across ServiceNow, CMDB, and related IT systems
Support internal and external software audits with accurate reporting and documentation
Recommend enhancements to SAM processes, governance, and automation to improve efficiency and compliance
Required Skills & Experience
Hands-on ServiceNow SAM Pro experience (administration, reconciliation, entitlement management, reclamation workflows)
Strong knowledge of software license management across multiple licensing models (SaaS, per-user, per-device, enterprise agreements, etc.)
Experience managing the full software asset lifecycle
Ability to configure and troubleshoot entitlement ingestion, reconciliation, and reclamation workflows in ServiceNow
Strong analytical and data management skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across IT, finance, procurement, and vendor management
