THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 6 MONTHS TO SUPPORT THE WORK MANAGER IN HER ROLE, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST

Redwood Suite is a 12-bedded Ward based at the Rhymney Integrated Health and Social care Centre under the division of primary care and community. We work with patients requiring rehabilitation, and complex discharging for Caerphilly residents. On admission to our unit, we work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary and local authority colleagues to assist patients in setting their own goals and supporting them to achieve these prior to discharge.

This post offers an innovative and exciting Band 6 role as part of a developmental programme which aims to support our integrated practitioners of the future in line with the clinical futures programme.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is the deputy ward manager. Your aim is to ensure that with the ward manager that the standard of evidence based care delivered to patients is of the highest quality.

Leading the nursing team in the absence of the ward manager and being a role model, ensuring the environment is maintained to a high standard. Expected to deliver, hands on clinical care to patients, and to assist the ward manager in the implementation, and delivery of the clinical and non-clinical governance agenda within the care environment.

The post holder has responsibility for the day to day management of the clinical area in the absence of the ward manager. Including, managing resources and allocating staff and also support the ward with the flow.

The post holder is expected to assist with the monitoring of standards of nursing care, patient experience and patient safety and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them.
