Role Overview
We’re seeking a Cybersecurity Intern with strong penetration testing experience to join our team for a 3-month, part-time, unpaid internship (~20 hrs/week). This role is ideal for someone who’s already comfortable with offensive security tools and wants to apply those skills in a high-growth startup environment. You’ll work closely with our CISO and engineering team to test our systems, identify vulnerabilities, and harden our infrastructure before scale.
What You’ll Do
* Conduct penetration testing on web, mobile, and cloud components (Django backend, AWS stack, React/React Native clients).
* Perform vulnerability scans, exploit testing, and report findings with remediation guidance.
* Collaborate with DevOps and backend engineers to verify fixes and re-test vulnerabilities.
* Assist in improving our WAF, IAM policies, JWT auth flows, and network security baselines.
* Contribute to building a repeatable security testing playbook for future audits and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
* Hands-on penetration testing experience (OWASP Top 10, SANS CWE, API abuse cases).
* Familiarity with tools like Burp Suite, Metasploit, Kali Linux, Nmap, Wireshark, Zap, Hydra.
* Understanding of cloud security in AWS (IAM, VPC, WAF, rate limiting, encryption at rest/in transit).
* Experience testing authentication, session management, and payment flows is a plus.
* Strong reporting skills (ability to clearly document vulnerabilities and fixes).
