Referment is working with a leading UK construction business to appoint an experienced Construction Compliance & Accreditation Manager for a critical short-term consultancy engagement.

This role reports directly into the Chief Operating Officer and will provide strategic leadership across compliance, assurance, and accreditation. You will take ownership of sector-critical certifications, lead audits, and drive continuous improvement through an Integrated Management System (IMS) and digital enablement.

This is a high-impact assignment suited to a senior compliance professional who can operate with autonomy, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver tangible governance improvements in a short timeframe.

Key Responsibilities

Accreditation Strategy & Governance

Own and maintain all corporate accreditations, ensuring audit readiness and renewal
Develop and deliver a compliance roadmap covering ISO standards, SSIP schemes, and sector-specific certifications
Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of non-conformities
Maintain compliance registers and evidence packs for regulatory, client, and framework requirements

Integrated Management System (IMS) Leadership

Manage And Continuously Improve The IMS, Integrating

ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 and ISO 50001
Ensure alignment with Annex SL for streamlined governance and reporting

Digital Enablement

Implement and optimise digital compliance platforms for audits, document control and reporting
Introduce automation for scheduling, alerts and corrective action tracking
Use data and BI tools to support trend analysis and decision-making

Supply Chain & Client Assurance

Oversee subcontractor and supplier compliance in collaboration with Procurement
Ensure alignment with PAS 91, Common Assessment Standard and major client frameworks

Industry & Business Leadership

Represent compliance in bids, audits and client reviews
Champion ethical and voluntary schemes (e.g. Building a Safer Future Charter, Armed Forces Covenant)
Identify and secure new accreditations as the business enters new sectors
Support the wider organisation on compliance best practice (Right to Work, BPSS, SC processes)
Line manage one direct report within the compliance function

Required Experience & Qualifications

Chartered Quality Institute membership (CQP MCQI preferred)
10+ years' compliance leadership experience within construction or the built environment
Proven track record managing ISO certifications and SSIP schemes
Strong knowledge of sector-specific schemes (e.g. Achilles, RISQS, FORS, Constructionline)
Confident using digital compliance systems and reporting / BI tools
