Lead Backend Developer

Ready to take the lead on complex, modern backend engineering that actually makes an impact?

We’re looking for a Lead Backend Developer to help build and scale a modern, multi‑environment SaaS platform that supports organisations in operating more efficiently and sustainably.

You’ll work across a large microservice ecosystem (70+ repos) using Node.js, TypeScript, Docker, AWS, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and modern engineering practices. If you love complex systems, ownership, and driving technical excellence, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

Build and maintain scalable backend services
Lead by example and mentor others
Solve challenging problems with creativity and resilience
Collaborate across teams to deliver impactful solutions

What You Bring

Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Mocha, Sinon, Docker
AWS knowledge (ECS, EC2, Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, S3, RDS)
Experience with Postgres/MySQL
A proactive, ownership‑driven mindset

Hybrid Working

3 days a week in our Cheshire office with:
