Junior Backend Test Engineer (Automation & DevOps Focus) Permanent position
Location: Belgium (Hybrid)

Your Opportunity
Are you finishing your Master’s degree and looking for a high-impact technical role where you can grow fast?
We are looking for a Junior Backend Test Engineer with strong analytical and coding skills who wants to build expertise in automation, backend systems, and DevOps practices.
This is not a “click-through test” job. You will work on complex backend systems, testing integrations, message flows, and secure communication between applications — the kind of engineering challenges that build serious technical depth early in your career.
Your Role
As part of an Agile engineering team, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of critical backend systems.
You will:
Design and execute automated backend tests
Reproduce and troubleshoot complex technical scenarios
Test application-to-application communication (connectivity, cryptography, message protocols, APIs)
Work with systems interacting with technologies like databases, messaging platforms, and enterprise software
Contribute to improving and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
Help drive automation and optimization across the development lifecycle
Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions
You may occasionally support analysis, development, or DevOps-related tasks — giving you broad exposure early in your career.
Your Profile
Education
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply
Technical Skills
Must-have
Strong programming skills in Java
Solid understanding of software engineering principles
Nice-to-have (you don’t need all of these yet)
Interest or first experience with test automation
Familiarity with Selenium, Cucumber or similar tools
Basic knowledge of scripting (Python, Shell, or Perl)
Understanding of CI/CD environments (Git, Jenkins, Maven…)
Interest in DevOps and automation
Curiosity about containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, Git platforms)
Any exposure to secure systems, messaging technologies, or financial protocols is a plus, but absolutely not required.
