Job Specifications

LeverageTek is actively seeking a Solutions Architect (Laboratory Information Systems) for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Key Tasks

Architect and support enterprise solutions to modernize laboratory operations and services.
Design, implement, and integrate Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), lab testing platforms, middleware, and laboratory equipment.
Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand laboratory workflows and operational needs.
Provide guidance on technology selection, compatibility, and best-fit solution approaches across various labs and workflows.
Assess internal architecture and infrastructure compatibility and identify workarounds for integration or technology gaps.
Design and oversee integrations using modern integration patterns such as APIs, ESB, middleware, workflow automation, file-based integrations, and cloud-based services.
Support vendor selection activities, including participation in RFP evaluation processes.
Ensure solution designs align with regulatory and compliance requirements in healthcare or regulated laboratory environments.
Identify risks early and proactively address solution delivery challenges.
Produce clear architectural documentation and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Qualifications

Proven experience in architecting and integrating Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), including lab testing platforms, middleware, and laboratory equipment integrations.
5+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect (6–8 years preferred) designing and delivering enterprise-grade solutions in complex environments.
Strong experience designing integrations between backend systems, middleware, and laboratory equipment (beyond application-level configuration).

Additional Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Strong experience within healthcare, blood services, biologics manufacturing, or laboratory environments, with a solid understanding of regulated systems and laboratory business processes.
Familiarity integrating with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) such as EPIC or Cerner is considered relevant and highly beneficial.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
Experience with modern integration patterns and technologies including APIs, ESB, middleware, workflow automation, containerization, file integration, and cloud integration.

Assets

Experience working in regulated healthcare environments.
Previous involvement in large-scale laboratory modernization or transformation initiatives.
Cloud architecture experience supporting laboratory or healthcare systems.
Experience supporting vendor selection and RFP evaluation processes for enterprise laboratory systems.

Compensation

Hourly Rate Negotiable
