Job Description: QE Lead / Test Automation Lead
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 Months Contract (Possible Extension)
Experience Required: 8+ Years
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced QE Lead / Test Automation Lead with strong expertise in automation testing, Big Data validation, and banking domain applications. The ideal candidate will lead quality engineering initiatives across complex, multi-application systems while driving automation strategy, test execution, and reporting in Agile and DevOps environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute end-to-end quality engineering activities across web, API, and data platforms
Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks for UI, API, and performance testing
Define testing strategies, test plans, and execution approaches for complex integrations
Perform manual and automated testing and report quality metrics to senior management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product owners, and DevOps
Ensure adherence to SDLC, STLC, and defect management processes
Support Agile and Iterative Waterfall delivery models
Mentor junior QA team members and promote best QE practices
Required Technical Skills
Automation & Testing Tools
Strong hands-on experience with:
Selenium (Java)
Playwright (JavaScript)
Robot Framework (UI Automation)
SoapUI
Expertise in BDD frameworks such as Cucumber
API testing using Postman and Rest Assured
Performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner
Programming & Data
Proficiency in Python and SQL
Experience testing Big Data and Hadoop ecosystems
Strong experience validating data across databases and distributed systems
DevOps & Tools
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab)
Strong knowledge of Git and version control systems
Hands-on experience with ALM, JIRA, Jenkins, and Confluence
Domain Expertise
Strong Banking Domain Knowledge, including:
Core Banking Systems
Payments
Cards
Understanding of banking compliance and regulatory requirements
Methodologies & Processes
Expert knowledge of QE processes, methodologies, and test design techniques
Experience working in Agile, DevOps, and Iterative Waterfall environments
Proven ability to develop innovative testing approaches under tight timeline
Soft Skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and design skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Strong stakeholder management and leadership abilities
Experience Requirements
8+ years of overall QE / testing experience
Minimum 3+ years in a technically focused QA role with strong automation exposure
Extensive experience in web automation, API testing, and data validation
