Job Title: Senior IT Business Analyst – Financial Risk & Capital Markets
Location: Toronto, ON
Contract Work Model: Hybrid (In-office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Contract Duration: 9 months
Role Context:
This role sits within the Capital Markets and Financial Risk domain. The ideal candidate has experience working in a banking environment and is familiar with capital markets terminology. This is not a pure documentation role—successful candidates typically begin their careers as developers and progress into SME or business-focused analyst roles. Strong hands-on SQL capability, including writing complex queries, is essential.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Business Analyst with a strong background in Financial Risk and Capital Markets to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in analyzing and documenting business requirements related to market risk, interest rate sensitivity, capital adequacy, liquidity ratios, and derivatives. Strong technical skills in SQL, data mapping, and data flow documentation are essential, along with experience working in Agile squads and proficiency with Azure Synapse and Azure OpenAI for data analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain detailed data mapping and data flow diagrams to support financial risk and capital markets initiatives.
• Translate complex business requirements into clear and actionable technical specifications and BRDs.
• Collaborate with Agile squads to deliver high-impact solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform advanced SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Create source-to-target mappings for data integration across systems.
• Utilize Azure Synapse and Azure OpenAI for scalable data analytics and reporting.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1. minimum 5+ years of proven experience as a Senior IT Business Analyst in Financial Services, Risk Management, or Capital Markets.
2. Strong understanding of financial risk metrics and regulatory frameworks.
3. Advanced proficiency in SQL, data mapping, and data flow documentation.
4. Experience working in Agile delivery models.
5. Proficiency with Azure Synapse and Azure OpenAI platforms.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
2. Certifications in Agile methodologies, financial risk, or data analytics tools.
3. Experience with additional cloud platforms, data visualization tools, or regulatory reporting systems
4. Technical expertise in Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Python.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
