Backend Engineer (Golang) – Product-Focused AI Company

London | Backend | Golang | Product Engineering | Hiring Mid, Snr & Staff Level.

We’re hiring multiple Backend Engineers to join one of London’s most exciting award winning product startups.

This is a true Backend Engineer role working primarily in Golang, building the distributed systems that power a real-time AI product used by B2B customers globally. They are scaling their engineering team rapidly and are looking for strong Engineers who want to own meaningful backend problems. Ideally you will have worked with Golang, however we are open to the languages you are currently working with.

The Role

As a Backend Engineer, you will design and build scalable backend services in Go that underpin a category-defining AI product.

This isn’t a siloed backend position - they want a Product-minded Engineer who understands how backend architecture decisions directly impact user experience, performance, and commercial outcomes.

What you will do:

Architect and scale backend systems in Go
Build robust, message-driven backend services.
Own features end-to-end as a Product Engineer, from technical design through to production.
Partner closely with founders and product leadership to shape the roadmap.
Contribute to a high-performance engineering culture where speed and quality both matter.

What They’re Looking For

3+ years experience as a Backend Engineer.
Strong production experience building backend systems (ideally in Go, but other languages welcome).
Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and reliability.
Experience operating backend infrastructure in AWS.
A Product-oriented Engineer who cares about why something is being built, not just how.

Package

£80,000–£100,000 base (higher for Staff Engineer level).
Meaningful equity.
Visa transfers supported (UK-based).
2 days per week in Central London.
Clear progression as the engineering team doubles.

This is an opportunity for a strong Backend Engineer to build a real AI product in Go, with ownership, scale, and genuine product influence from day one.
