Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Data Consultant- Pyspark. This position involves leading the technical implementation of complex projects within a dynamic financial services environment. The successful candidate will drive system design, development, deployment, and support, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and regulatory standards.
Pay rate range (CAD): $73.47/hr – $88.16/hr
Responsibilities
Lead technical aspects of projects from inception through deployment, including analysis and system design specification
Document design options and solutions following SDLC methodology
Ensure solutions align with development standards and architectural principles
Apply analytical skills to resolve issues and deliver effective solutions proactively
Participate actively in issue resolution and risk mitigation
Provide detailed development estimates and contribute to weekly status reports and budgeting
Manage configuration within project releases and oversee code reviews
Code, test, package, deploy, and support builds across development, testing, and production environments
Collaborate closely with environment management teams to ensure functional and stable deployment
Contribute to test strategy, plan, and execution, including unit and integration testing
Support testing phases with technical expertise, track defects, and facilitate resolution
Assist with data setup, environment shake-down, and technical documentation
Mentor junior developers and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team
Maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure seamless transition upon contract completion
Engage with internal stakeholders and teams with minimal need for meetings
Desired Skill-Set
5+ years of experience in a technical role within banking or financial services
Proven expertise with Cloud environments, particularly MS Azure
Strong knowledge of Data Management, Data Governance, and regulatory projects
Extensive experience with PySpark, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, and Synapse
Project management experience and ability to coordinate with multiple pods
Skilled in analyzing large datasets, deriving insights, and visualizing data
Experienced in data/text mining, automation, algorithm development, and data visualization
Ability to interpret schemas, metadata, entity relationship diagrams, and technical documentation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong statistical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
Experience with presenting to senior leadership is a plus
Nice to Have
Presentation experience before executive audiences
Previous banking experience, especially related to Law 25
Familiarity with automation, data optimization, and advanced analytics techniques
