The role

We are hiring a dedicated Remote Hands technician to act as our primary boots on the ground at Equinix LA3. This is a

full-time engagement in terms of commitment and availability, but the actual onsite hours fluctuate month to month.

Expect a mixed workload: routine tasks, planned projects, and bursts of urgent work.

This is a contractor role (you run your own business and invoice for services).

What you’ll do

• Rack/stack, rail kits, hardware installs/swaps, decommissions

• Replace/diagnose components (drives, PSUs, fans, NICs), reseats, basic troubleshooting

• Cabling and optics: copper/fiber/DAC/AOC, labeling, cable management, port mapping

• Crash cart/console work; assist with iDRAC/IPMI/iLO tasks when needed

• Visual inspections, photos, inventory checks, serial/MAC capture

• Receive deliveries, stage equipment, coordinate returns/RMAs

• Execute MOPs and provide clean ticket updates with timestamps and evidence

How we work (communication)

• Coordinate in real time with our support/NOC teams via Google Chat (plus tickets/email as needed)

• Clear, fast updates: what you found, what you did, what is next - with photos when useful

Coverage expectations (AM/PM)

• Handle scheduled tasks during business hours with reasonable notice

• Support AM/PM work when needed (early/late tasks happen)

• Urgent response: quick acknowledgment and reliable onsite arrival (define your realistic SLA)

Who you are

• Experienced Remote Hands / Data Center Technician (Equinix experience strongly preferred)

• Hands-on server competence (Dell/Supermicro/HPE typical)

• Strong cabling discipline and neat work standards

• Clear communicator: short updates, photos, and accurate documentation

• Reliable availability and follow-through - we optimize for execution

Contractor terms (no confusion)

• Independent contractor (1099) - not employment

• NDA and site/security requirements apply

Nice to have

• Familiarity with high-throughput networking environments (10/25/40/100G)

• Comfort with structured change control and strict MOP execution

• Basic Linux/network troubleshooting mindset
