About The Role
Join a close-knit, multi-skilled team at Gunnedah Health Service, where you’ll work with other passionate clinicians in the Emergency Department. This is a hands-on, highly varied role that allows you to expand your clinical scope and deepen your experience in an acute setting.
You’ll care for emergency patients on the front line ensuring safe, compassionate, and high-quality care at every stage. As part of a Level 3 Emergency Department with 24/7 medical and Nurse Practitioner coverage, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your confidence and capability in a supported rural environment.
Your professional development matters to us - you’ll receive ongoing guidance from the NUM, Nurse Practitioner, and Clinical Nurse Educator, with opportunities for orientation, skills training, and continuing education tailored to your goals.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a motivated and flexible Registered Nurse who enjoys working across diverse clinical areas and thrives in a rural hospital environment. You’ll bring strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and a willingness to take initiative in providing exceptional care.
Essential
Recent experience in acute care or emergency nursing
Proficiency in triage, A–G assessment, and time management
Competence in point-of-care testing (POC) and safe clinical decision-making
A collaborative, patient-centred approach aligned with our CORE Values
Desirable
Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development

Information For Applicants
Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. If your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive. Please note: the increased RHWIS allowance is approved until 30th June 2026.
