The Information security advisor is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Information Security & Control Advisory Services in Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The candidate should be able to conduct enterprise level network and firewall rule request security assessment and review. The candidate should be able to act like a subject matter expert on the threat risk assessment/advisory service processes and enable the advisory team to produce quality assessments.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise to business lines, IT support functions, and IS&C Control functions to include security within early stages of the design of Bank´s technological solutions.
Conducting Firewall rule request review and assessment and meet bank’s network security standard and objectives.
Conducting Threat Risk Assessments and performing security advisory work on specific applications and infrastructure associated with Scotiabank’s Cloud and other Initiatives ensuring that controls are adequate, meet Bank standards, and enable business objectives.
Provide Quality Assurance on Threat Risk Assessments and Threat Modelling as. Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise on security solutions and recommend best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust security architectures for various systems, applications, and networks.
Evaluate existing security solutions and propose enhancements or new designs to address emerging threats and business requirements.
Ensure alignment with industry best practices, compliance standards, and organizational security policies.
Identify security weaknesses, vulnerabilities, and gaps in existing systems and recommend remediation strategies.
Provide support on how to apply the Bank's portfolio of standards to the technology footprint of Scotiabank’s Cloud offering.
Provide oversight over the specific line of business security posture, ensuring that all tools available to detect and remediate security risks have been applied.
Conduct industry reviews and benchmarking exercises to ensure our controls are aligned with our peers, emerging threats, and available mitigation strategies.
Working directly with technical leads from assigned Lines of Businesses supporting their initiatives from an Information Security perspective.
Providing relationship management function from an Information Security perspective.
Skills
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
Minimum 5+ years’ experience as information security advisor with emphasis on IT Security and technical solutions or
Minimum 5+ years’ experience as network security advisor with emphasis on network Security and technical solutions
Good to have one of the following Information Security accreditations, CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCNP, CCNA, CCSK, CCSE or Equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include the creation of reports and the manipulation of data using the Microsoft Productivity suite of tools.
Experienced in GRC tools (e.g., RSA Archer or ServiceNow) and its implementation.
Demonstrates knowledge of risk management and mitigation concepts
You have well-rounded interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships cross-functionally, based on Scotiabank’s values of respect, integrity, passion, and accountability.
