About Kinda Co.

Kinda Co. is the UK's first B Corp certified vegan cheese company with 11 Great Taste Awards. We're a growing business specialising in plant-based cheeses, stocked in independent retailers nationwide and expanding into major grocery retail. We're at an exciting inflection point - scaling from a bootstrapped startup into a nationally recognised brand.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Business Manager to partner with our founder and take ownership of the commercial and a portion of the day-to-day business operations. This role has been created to enable our founder to focus on marketing, sales, and NPD while ensuring the business side runs smoothly and hits its growth targets.

You'll be a problem-solver, coordinator, and a person who makes things happen - ensuring nothing falls through the cracks as we scale. This is a hands-on role in a small team where everyone still pitches in, but you'll bring senior-level commercial thinking and business acumen.

What You'll Actually Do

Day-to-Day Business/Commercial Management

Be the founders go-to person for everything that doesn't fit neatly into a box - problem-solving and coordinating when needed
Oversee our inventory management system (Unleashed) - ensure it is accurate so that it can be used to drive decisions
Work closely with our Operations Manager to ensure seamless coordination between business and production operations
Handle retailer liaison (managing accounts, responding to queries, coordinating promotions)
Monitor business performance and KPIs - spot issues before they become problems
Manage the administrative workload that keeps a small business running (utilities, facilities, forms)

Financial & Commercial

Own P&L tracking and financial reporting
Lead pricing updates and margin analysis
Support cashflow management and financial planning
Make commercial decisions that improve profitability

Projects & Growth Initiatives

Lead grant applications and funding opportunities
Manage B Corp recertification process
Drive special projects as they arise
Coordinate brand collaborations and partnerships
Implement systems and processes as we scale (without adding unnecessary bureaucracy)

Strategic Support

Be part of the senior leadership team alongside the founder and Operations Manager
Identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement
Support new retail account development
Help shape business planning and forecasting

What We're Looking For:

Essential

Strong Excel skills - you're comfortable with data, spreadsheets, and making systems work properly
Experience in small business operations or early-stage startups (you understand wearing multiple hats)
Commercial awareness - you understand margins, pricing, and what makes a business profitable
Highly organised and detail-oriented - nothing falls through the cracks on your watch
Excellent problem-solver who can figure things out independently
Comfortable with hands-on work - this isn't a desk-only role
Systems-minded but pragmatic - you'll improve processes without over-complicating things
Able to be on-site in Weston-super-Mare, BS24 8EF.

Desirable

Experience in food/FMCG/retail environment
Worked with major retailers
Inventory management system experience (Unleashed or similar)
Grant writing or funding application experience
Understanding of vegan/plant-based sector
Startup or scale-up background

The Reality of This Role

This isn't a conventional Business Manager position. Some days you'll be analysing margins and preparing financial reports. Other days you'll be chasing utility companies, updating spreadsheets, or coordinating collaborations with other brands.

We need someone who can think strategically but also roll up their sleeves. Someone who's excited by variety rather than frustrated by it. Someone who wants to build something rather than just manage what already exists.

If you're looking for a corporate role with clear boundaries and predictable days, this isn't it. If you want to be instrumental in scaling an award-winning brand and having real ownership over how things work, this could be perfect.

What We Offer

Competitive salary dependent on experience
Opportunity to shape the future of a fast-growing, award-winning brand
Work with a purpose-driven B Corp certified business
Small team where your impact is visible and meaningful
Autonomy and ownership - we need someone who can run with things
Potential for growth as the business scales
