Job Description

Location: Hybrid (1 week per month onsite in Spain; remainder remote within the UK)

Contract Type: 6-month contract (strong possibility of extension)

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transfer of Work (ToW) Specialist to support major supply chain transitions for a leading organisation in the aerospace/engineering/manufacturing sector. This role requires an expert who has successfully managed complex ToW projects, supplier transitions, manufacturing ramp-up/down, and cross-site industrial transfers.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on ToW professional with a deep understanding of supply chain operations, risk management, industrialisation, and supplier performance governance. You will act as the central link between engineering, procurement, quality, operations, and supplier sites to ensure seamless and compliant transfer of work activities.

Key Responsibilities

Transfer of Work Leadership

Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and governance of Transfer of Work (ToW) activities across suppliers and internal sites.
Develop and implement detailed ToW plans, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure robust industrial readiness at receiving sites, including capability assessments, capacity verification, and approval milestones.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

Act as primary interface between supplier sites in Spain and internal UK/EU stakeholders.
Conduct onsite reviews, audits, and readiness checks during scheduled visits.
Manage multi-functional communication streams across engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality.

Industrialisation & Manufacturing Readiness

Oversee production transfers, tooling moves, qualification activities, and first article inspections (FAI) where necessary.
Monitor supplier performance during the transition phase, ensuring compliance with technical, quality, and contractual requirements.
Support process validation, documentation transfer, and manufacturing approval processes.

Risk, Performance & Reporting

Identify industrial risks and constraints, providing mitigation and escalation paths.
Maintain detailed progress trackers, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
Present high-level updates to senior management and cross-functional governance bodies.

Support Continuous Improvement

Analyse lessons learned and propose improvements to ToW methodologies, frameworks, and governance models.
Develop standardised templates and processes to support future industrial transfer activities.

Essential

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in Transfer of Work within aerospace, engineering, automotive, defence, or complex manufacturing.
Proven track record of delivering multiple ToW projects independently and successfully.
Strong understanding of:
Supplier capability assessments
Manufacturing readiness and industrialisation processes
Quality standards and compliance (e.g., AS9100 or equivalent)
Supply chain performance management
Tooling transfer, documentation migration, and FAI processes
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills across executive, operational, and supplier levels.
Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions in fast-moving, high-pressure environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with a structured, process-driven approach.

Desirable

Background in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing.
Experience managing suppliers in Spain or wider Europe.
Engineering, supply chain, or manufacturing qualification (degree or equivalent experience).
Fluency in Spanish (beneficial but not essential).

Work Arrangement

1 week per month onsite in Spain (travel expenses covered or reimbursed).
Remainder of the role remote within the UK.
Occasional additional travel may be required depending on project phases.

Contract Details

Initial duration: 6 months
Extension: High likelihood based on project performance and broader programme needs
Engagement: Umbrella or LTD (subject to IR35
