Job Description
We are currently hiring for a Senior Systems Engineering Analyst to join our System of Systems Architecture team. Our Architecture team is a diverse group of experienced System Architects with backgrounds in a wide range of Aerospace and Defence Programs at GDMS-C. The team works very closely with our Canadian Department of National Defence counterparts to shape the very systems the Canadian Army is currently deploying in Theatre. Centred in Land C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), the focus of the team is bringing together previously separate systems and understanding the key interfaces between these systems. Additionally, a firm understanding of the operational context in which the system is exercised is another variable the team must consider.
Based in either our Ottawa or Calgary facility, the ideal candidate would undertake a number of different initiatives, including (but not limited to) the launch of trade study activities, developing network designs, analyzing legacy solutions, and coordinating software/systems solutions.
In this role, you will:
Collaborate with customer stakeholders to translate business/operational requirements into technical solutions for the engineering teams at large
Supports the team on architecture decisions for complex enterprise and distributed systems
Shape overall technical scope and requirements for the LC5ISR System of Systems in Theatre, working closely with GDMS-C and customer leadership
Review, create, and contribute to Enterprise System Models for trade study analysis and models developed by other teams within the program.
Document technical capabilities for future reference and training.
Develop program and technological roadmaps aligned with business strategy and system evolution
Mentor junior engineers
Drive technical innovation and best practices adoption
Qualifications
What You Need to Have to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 8+ years of practical experience with a focus on software, hardware, or systems engineering/architecture
Proven experience leading large-scale system designs
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
Demonstrated success in collaboratively working with a diverse set of stakeholders towards a common goal
Experience with communication systems and technology in an aerospace and defence context
What Makes You Stand Out:
Strong understanding of software and system development life cycles.
Familiarity with software development trends, analysis tools, technologies, enterprise, and systems modelling tools.
Enterprise architecture frameworks
Cloud migration strategies and cloud technologies
Security and compliance expertise
DevOps practices implementation
Virtualization trends and technology (Microservices, Containers, Virtual Machines)
Security
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

What We Offer
The hiring range for this position is $105,500 to $132,000 CAD annual.
