Role Overview
As a Confluent Solution Architect, you will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance real-time data streaming solutions. The role involves building enterprise-grade event-driven systems using Apache Kafka and Confluent ecosystem components across multi-cloud environments. You will collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps teams to deliver resilient streaming platforms aligned with business and technology goals.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement real-time data streaming architectures using Apache Kafka and Confluent components.
Define event-driven architecture patterns and streaming best practices.
Lead Kafka cluster design, scalability planning, and performance tuning.
Architect cloud-native Kafka deployments on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for Kafka-based services and infrastructure automation.
Enable secure streaming using RBAC, authentication, encryption, and audit logging.
Oversee integration of Kafka with data lakes, data warehouses, and enterprise systems.
Guide KRaft migration and modern event streaming adoption.
Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams for containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
Ensure governance, lineage, and stream catalog compliance standards.
Mandatory Skills
5+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (Open-source, Confluent, Cloudera, AWS MSK, etc.)
Strong programming expertise in Java, Python, or Scala
Strong understanding of:
Event-driven architecture
Messaging systems
Distributed systems
Streaming data patterns
Experience deploying Kafka on cloud platforms:
Amazon Web Services
Google Cloud Platform
Microsoft Azure
Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desired / Preferred Skills (Confluent Ecosystem)
Experience with:
Confluent Platform and Confluent ecosystem
Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, Schema Registry, REST Proxy, Confluent Control Center
Confluent Cloud services including ksqlDB Cloud and Apache Flink
Stream Governance, Data Lineage, Stream Catalog, Audit Logs, RBAC
Confluent for Kubernetes and multi-cloud deployments
Confluent certifications (Developer, Administrator, Flink Developer)
Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk
Data mesh architecture concepts
Data lakes and enterprise data warehouse integrations
KRaft (Kafka without ZooKeeper) migration
