Database Modeling Specialist

Location: Edinburgh, UK (Mainly remote - occasional travel)

Type: Contract (6 months) | Rate: PS400/day Inside IR35 | Start Date: ASAP

The Role

Our client, a top global organization, is seeking experienced Database Modeling Specialists to join a leading organisation on a contract basis. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing data models that support both operational systems and analytical platforms within the Power Utilities domain. This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale transformation projects with significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
Conduct data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and improvement opportunities.
Apply best practices in normalization, denormalization, and indexing strategies.
Lead and contribute to data architecture discussions, presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on modeling and architecture best practices.
Evaluate and recommend new data modeling tools, techniques, and approaches to improve efficiency.

Essential Skills & Experience

5+ years' experience in data modeling or data architecture.
Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
Experience using data modeling tools (e.g. Erwin, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, or similar).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Domain knowledge in Power Transmission and Distribution.
