Salary Range : up to £57,000 p.a. ( pro rata)

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Analyst at Rail Delivery Group.

As part of the Government's Accessibility Roadmap, RDG will be delivering an accessible journey planner that will enable searching for journeys specifically based on the customer's accessibility needs, as well as providing additional accessibility information about the journey.

We require a BA to help support the existing Senior BA in the development of requirements, business and data analysis as well as the procurement and selection of suppliers to help us deliver the solution. There may also be opportunity to be involved in other procurements such as for web analytics.

You will need to have excellent stakeholder management skills with some experience of working in a complex stakeholder environment with multiple external organisations. Experience of public procurements would be advantageous.

You will also form part of the newly established RDG Business Analysis Practice, setting BA standards and processes, sharing best practice and working collaboratively to ensure consistent, high-quality business analysis deliverables.

What can I expect to do in this job?

This isn't an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to be involved with include:
Understanding and clearly defining the scope of change and procurement initiatives
Working with customer, technical and other teams as required to understand detailed wants and needs, identifying and articulating solution options, rules, benefits and risks
Elaborating high level requirements from internal and external stakeholders into detailed functional and non-functional requirements that can be used in procurement documentation
Undertaking data analysis and investigation in support of the developing the requirements
Eliciting testing and service management requirements
Managing the prioritisation of requirements
Coordinating and inputting into the procurement evaluation process, evaluating suppliers' proposals and capability to meet the requirements, either from existing solutions or from new developments
Reviewing technical designs to ensure the proposed solution meets requirements and rail industry standards
Supporting the development and review of commercial agreements and contracts ensuring that
Defining acceptance criteria, ensuring that the supplier builds to specification and achieves both those criteria and the project's goals
Contributing to and ensuring that all business analysis deliverables align with the BA Practice community and standards

Requirements

What experience, skills and knowledge do I need?

Requirements gathering and documentation
Experience of procurement processes and deliverables (e.g. RFI, RFP)
Data analysis skills to investigate and identify needs and requirements (e.g. Excel/SQL)
Minimum of 5 years working as a business analyst or in a closely related area in a professional environment
Knowledge of web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) is beneficial
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience and knowledge of analysis activities across the full project development lifecycle
Experience of documenting requirements using use cases, user stories and other techniques
System and business process modelling and re-engineering
Collaboration and facilitation skills to work effectively with a broad range of both internal and external stakeholders
Experience of running workshops and posing the right questions to gather requirements and challenge design details and assumptions
Attention to detail, enabling issues to be identified, coupled with thoroughness and a determination to resolve them
Ability to produce excellent quality written documentation to support your work, report on findings and present to stakeholders when required
Proactive and delivery focussed
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Ability to balance customer, project, and development needs for a particular project delivery, escalating any conflict at appropriate times
Exposure to and understanding of agile and traditional project management frameworks
Experience of modelling tools such as Visio is desirable
Professional business analysis certifications (IIBA, BCS etc) are welcomed
